lane splitting.

currently only legal in california, the longer i live here the more i feel like we need to do something about that, or maybe it was when i was rear ended sitting in traffic on lamar today, at a dead stop, with 20 cars in front of me...not moving....its been up for vote a couple times in the last few years but gets killed by insurance lobbyists, id love to get it back in and make a hard push to pass it, even on a city level. we have year round riding, maybe we should make like every other country in the world and get with it. live in the now.

I'd like to see lane

I'd like to see lane splitting legalized here.  I think the hard part is convincing all the cagers to allow the 2 wheels by them.  Seems like people are generally too worried about losing the Mopac GP.

Agreed, some people are so

Agreed, some people are so self absorbed, if the outlines are clear and the amount of awareness advertising was increased by a fairmargin maybe one day .

Lane splitting

For the most part, we will see little of it.  Costs to widen the lanes, combined with Austin's gridlock issues, don't expect anything anytime soon.  I have ridden out west, and yes, it was VERY nice.  I think wishful thinking at this point....

Good lord! That guy has a death wish!

But, I do believe they should legalize lane splitting here in Texas. Maybe even possibly driving on the shoulder (for motorcycles only). That would be handy.

it's allowed in other

it's allowed in other countries that are greatly overpopulated and at least half of the vehicles on the road are small bikes.  while sitting in traffic sucks in 100 degree heat when an air cooled engine, i think people here would take advantage of lane sharing, especially crotch rockets.  even if we had it, i would probably not do it because i'd be scared that at any point another vehicle can decide to switch lanes right in front of me.

Ride to work. Work to ride.
